What is artificial intelligence (AI)?

The phrase "Artificial Intelligence" (AI), which was first used in 1956, describes a machine's capacity to learn from experience, adapt to new inputs, and carry out tasks that a human would complete. Artificial intelligence (AI) allows computers to be trained to do certain tasks by sifting through enormous amounts of data and looking for patterns. Artificial intelligence research first focused on symbolic techniques and problem solving in the 1950s. In the 1960s, the Department of Defense became interested in artificial intelligence and began training computers to mimic basic human reasoning. These early efforts laid the groundwork for the automation and formal reasoning characteristics that we see in computers today, such as intelligent research and decision support.
